I have also noticed from singing the "Happy Birthday" song outload she now sings it by herself with the same melody and voice inflection we use when we sing the song. She will even prop up her dolls and stuffed animals and have a tea & cake party with them. Overall, a nice item to be enjoyed over and over again. Gave this to my niece a few weeks ago for her 2nd birthday and she still loves playing with it. It's very well crafted out of wood and encourges her imagination and social skills to play with family and friends.
The wooden pieces were sturdy and looked like they could withstand repetitive play. It is such a cute gift and is nice for either a girl or boy. I would buy this again as a gift for another young child and also for my own son who is 1 and a half (despite the recommended age of 3+). I bought this as a birthday present for a 2-year-old boy and he loved it. He loved decorating the cake and then sharing slices with others.
My kids play with it almost every day. My three kids always liked to play "Birthday Party". My only complaint would be that there are not individual serving plates for the pieces of cake. Sometimes they pretend it's pizza too. So I got this birthday cake set for my daughters' 3rd birthday. Out of all the gifts she got, this was the one she wanted right after opening it.
My only complaint is some of the things to put on the cake (gumdrops). My son has the Pizza "puzzle" like this, and my 4-year-old nephew loves it. I would recommend this to anyone with kids who have a similar case of CP. are kind of random.My nephew has cerebral palsy and has a hard time with any fine motor skills, and this has been great therapy for him, because he can learn to cut, put the decorations in specific places without having to fit them into jigsaw patterns as with a real puzzle, etc. Instead of getting him the exact same one, we just got him the Birthday Cake kit for his 4th birthday. He loves it, too.
I love all of the melissa & doug products because they are durable, unique, and fun. She enjoys putting different toppings and candles on the cake, and "cutting" through the velcro with the cake server. I bought this for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Two months later she's still celebrating.
